How Does the Treatment Work?

It is a minimally invasive procedure that must be performed by a trained medical professional.

Using an extremely fine needle (thinner than a hair), we inject a sclerosing solution directly into the problematic vein.
This solution irritates the inner wall of the vein, causing it to collapse and close.
Once closed, blood flow is redirected to deeper, healthy veins.
Over time (weeks), the body naturally reabsorbs the treated vein, and the “spider vein” disappears visually.

Both sclerotherapy and skin tag removal are outpatient procedures (“in and out”), but they require specific care to ensure the best result.

For Sclerotherapy:

It is not immediate: The veins do not disappear instantly. In fact, they may appear slightly darker or bruised at first. The reabsorption process takes 3 to 6 weeks.
Compression: We may recommend wearing compression stockings for a few days to help keep the veins closed.
Avoid Sun Exposure: Given that we are in Las Vegas, it is crucial not to expose the legs to direct sunlight until the bruising has disappeared to avoid discoloration. For this reason, fall and winter are the best times for this treatment.

For Skin Tags:

Quick Healing: The small scab that forms typically falls off on its own within 5-7 days.

Most patients describe it as mild discomfort, similar to a mosquito bite or a brief burning sensation when the liquid enters. The needle is so fine that the pain is minimal and very tolerable.

How many sessions do I need to eliminate spider veins?

It depends on the quantity and size of the veins to be treated. Generally, a series of 2 to 4 sessions is recommended to achieve complete clearance of the area, spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Are the results permanent?

The veins treated and reabsorbed by the body disappear permanently. However, sclerotherapy does not cure the genetic predisposition to develop spider veins, so new veins may appear in other areas over the years. Annual maintenance is usually sufficient.

What is the difference between a Skin Tag and a Wart?

Skin Tags (acrochordons) are soft skin growths caused by friction and genetics; they are not contagious. Warts are caused by the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), are typically harder and rougher, and are contagious. It is vital that a professional differentiate them before treatment.
